Woodhouse Athletic (Wigan) 0 v 6 Quilligans FC

Quilligans travelled to Wigan to play against a bit of an unknown quantity in Woodhouse Athletic who had been undefeated in all competitions so far this year. However, it took Lee Catlow all of 4 minutes to find them out with a fine opening goal. He converted again 6 minutes later to put last year’s finalists two ahead.

Danny Rowe then got in on the act with double on 17 and 24 minutes. The game was more or less over at this early stage with the front two running the Woodhouse defence ragged. Catlow got his hat trick on 38 minutes to send Quilligans in to a five goal lead at half time.

Half-time 0-5

The second half saw the Woodhouse lads playing for a bit of pride and to their credit managed to stem the flow until Cook hit a lovely shot from 30 yards on 72 minutes to make it 6.

Full-time 0-6.

Make no mistake, this could have been a tricky game but all credit to the whole team who showed a determination to progress to the semi-finals.

Following a fairly slow start to the season, Quilligans are now showing what they are made of. The large travelling support would no doubt agree as everyone went home happy.

A special mention must go to the referee who handled the game superbly.
