Quilligans visited the self proclaimed "team pretty" of the BFSFA today on a heavy and muddy pitch, infact it was the only game being played at Cottam Hall today. PPM needed a victory to try and pull clear of the relegation battle, having played a few games more than the sides around them.

The opening exchanges weren't particularly pretty with both sides were getting to grips with the poor conditions. Pearson had the first chance for Quilligans after a fumble by Cowell but he couldn't convert his opportunity. However, Cowell later made amends for his fumble with a smart save.
Quilligans opened the scoring after 10 minutes when a brilliantly disguised shot in the form of a cross from Pearson, totally fooled Cowell in the PPM goal and floated into the top corner. As is becoming the norm of late, Quilligans were guilty of not increasing their lead further - the guilty parties being Pearson, Catlow and Ioannou who all missed when it seemed easier to score.

PPM flattered to deceive and didn't really threaten Clowes in the Quilligans goal, although they could perhaps consider themselves unlucky not to have had a penalty when Roberts got a bit too close to Woolcock in the box, but the referee gave nothing.
On 39 minutes Quilligans increased their lead when a good ball from PPM old boy Cook found Ioannou lurking and he made no mistake slotting home from close range.

Further chances came and went. A great move by Swallow, Roberts and Catlow, left the latter with a great chance to open his account, but decided to try and hit 11:42 to Blackpool North from just inside the area. Cowell also had to be on his toes late into the half when he made a good double save.
Half-time 0-2.
Just after the restart Ioannou forced an outstanding save from Cowell tipping over his effort. From the resultant corner Pearson secured his brace with a bullet header to make it 0-3.

A minute later it was 0-4. Good work on the left flank ended in Cook who delivering a great ball to Catlow who finished with aplomb from inside the area. Ioannou could have increased the lead moments later but found hitting the post easier from one yard out than finding the net, surpassing Gareth Moore's fine miss last week.

On 51 minutes Ioannou made amends, when he combined well with West before firing home. Spedding replaced Cook on 55 minutes.
Just before the final whistle substitute Spedding got on the scoresheet, superbly turning in a cross with his back after getting onto the end of a cross that Cowell really should have dealt with.
Full-time 0-6.
It should have been double figures but missed chances, saved PPM from a heavier defeat.
