With the first encounter between these two sides ending in a draw it was back to Collins Park for the replay with the winners facing FC Eden at home. If the message boards were to believed both sides thought they did enough to win the previous encounter, so it was going to be an interesting game.
Quilligans got the game under way kicking down the infamous slope and had the wind at their backs. It was a fast and furious start with both sides having early half chances but nothing that troubled either keeper.
Northern Care were having the better of the early exchanges and were playing some good football to boot, with an early shot being gathered well by Clowes in the Quilligans goal. Catlow responded shortly after for Quilligans with a turn and shot that flashed just wide.

With 20 minutes gone Quilligans took the lead, and arguably against the run of play. A long throw by Gorrie was flicked onto the back post where Catlow was on hand to apply the finishing touch with his head.
Broadbent and Gorrie both had chances to increase Quilligans lead but Broadbent's volley flew over and Gorrie's header was easily collected by the Northern Care keeper.

To be fair, Northern Care had the better of the half and were unfortunate to go into the break a goal down.
Half-time 0-1.
The second half started as the first did, and Clowes had to be on his toes when Northern Care found themselves through on goal - Clowes doing enough to force the player wide.

A good move between Catlow and Swallow nearly bore fruit but unfortunately the build up play didn't match the finish. Northern Care were still after an equaliser and went close with a glancing header, which was just wide of the upright.

Catlow forced a good save from the Northern Care keeper when he beat the offside trap and volleyed goalbound, and on 67 minutes Quilligans increased their lead. A corner was headed back across the goal by Bracewell and Broadbent sidefooted home from inside the area.

Quilligans could have increased their lead when good play between Catlow and Gorrie ended with Broadbent firing over, and they were denied again when the Northern Care keeper made a brave save at the feet of Short.

Northern Care weren't for giving up and went very close on two occasions, with both a volley and curling effort going inches wide.
The Northern Care keeper was called into action once again near the end when good work by Short found Pearson whose drive was parried away to safety.
Full time 0-2.
