Quilligans kicked off the new season at Common Edge against Fylde Coast Gates who finished second bottom last season. The game got underway on, what has to be said, a poor surface - it looked like the pitch hadn't been cut for a good few weeks.

Despite this Evans squandered an early chance when he couldn't convert the Fylde Coast keeper's parry after his initial effort on goal. It wasn't long before Quilligans opened their account with a cultured free kick from new signing Dickinson.

Quilligans doubles their lead on 15 minutes when Dickinson scored direct from a corner after the Fylde Coast keeper was unable to collect. Just after the 20 minute mark, Dickinson had secured his hatrick. Good work down the right flank gave Watt the chance to deliver a cross with such pinpoint accuracy that Dickinson didn't have to move an inch to head home.

Two minutes later it was 4-0. A well delivered ball from Bracewell found Spedding, his initial effort was snuffed out by the Fylde Coast keeper, but he latched onto the rebound to fire home.

Evans made it 5-0 firing home past the home keeper after a jinking run into the area. Spedding made it a half dozen 10 minutes or so before half time with a towering header at the back post.
Half-time: 0-6.
Pretty much from the re-start Evans missed a guilt edged chance to extend Quilligans commanding lead. Just after the hour, Spedding saw the keeper off his line and tried a speculative effort on goal. His effort was directed by the head of a Fylde Coast defender past his keeper and into the back of the net.

Minutes later substitute Frend got onto the scoresheet making space for himself in the Fylde Coast area and thumping home.

Fylde Coast's best effort came shortly after when they forced a smart save from Ward- Smith, who clung on to the ball well. Evans made it 9-0 when Rowe picked him out from the crowd with aplomb slotting into the corner.

Quilligans reached double figures when Rowe found Watt, who delivered another first rate cross for Frend to blast home.

Fylde Coast did get a consolation with 10 minutes remaining when a mistake in the Quilligans rearguard let them in to score.

With minutes remaining Frend forced a fine save from the Fylde Coast keeper and then Dickinson completed the rout to make it 11-1 firing home from close range.
Final score: 1-11.
