Quilligans progressed to the quarter final of the Gledhill Cup by overcoming Lytham outfit Fairhaven at Lytham CC this morning. The game played on arguably the best surface on the Fylde went ahead in nice calm conditions after the recent wet and windy weather.
Quilligans looked out of sorts in the first half with both Taberner and Cook missing good opportunities to open the account.
Quilligans stepped up the pace in the second half after a half time ear bashing, and wrapped the game up in the first 15 minutes with three well taken goals. Firstly Paul Cook headed in a well flighted corner from Jordan Spedding, quickly followed by Lee Broadbent finishing off a great run by strike partner Micky Evans.
Then Kevan Ford headed in the third on the hour, before Nick Greenall's excellent run and finish put the gloss on a far better second half performance.
Good performances today from the ever dependable Kevan Ford, Jordan Spedding and Martin Baird.
