Quilligans got their assault on the LFA Sunday Trophy underway with their first competitive game of the season at Collins Park against Barrow Cars. It proved to be all one way traffic as Quilligans hammered their opponents.
With the Collins Park pitch looking lush and green, Quilligans were a goal to the good inside 4 minutes. Rowe curling into the top corner after cutting inside and beating his marker. Quilligans doubled their lead on 11 minutes. A Douthwaite drive hit the post but Thompson was on hand to head home the rebound.

Sugden added a third after 13 minutes turning his man and firing home from inside the Barrow area. On the quarter hour Rowe had secured his brace with a trademark piledriver.
Barrow had no answer to the firepower of Quilligans as they began peppering their goal. Just before the half hour a Greenall corner was met well by Thompson to make it five without reply. Broadbent nearly opened his account for the season, but his goalbound effort was superbly tipped over by the Barrow keeper.

Rowe made it a half dozen on 38 minutes. A short corner into his feet, he skillfully turned his man and blasted home from close range to complete his hatrick. Rowe wasn't finished and just before the break he again fired home from close range.
Half time 7-0.
At half time Spedding replaced Sugden, and just after the restart he was on the scoresheet with a fine strike from outside the area to make it 8-0. A minute later it was nine. Greenall picked up the ball inside the area rounded the Barrow keeper and slid the ball home.

Spedding got his second and Quilligans' tenth on 54 minutes sweeping in a fine delivery from Rowe. Greenall went close to making it 11 with an exocet like effort that smashed against the Barrow upright.

Slater and Thompson were replaced by Watt and Faber just before the hour. On the hour Barrow pulled a goal back - it was to be the goal of the game when the Barrow's rather rotund number 15 crashed a volley from distance into the top corner of the Quilligans net beating Speight all ends up.

Minutes later Rowe restored parity. Good work by Douthwaite and Spedding led to the latter finding Rowe who slotted home to make it 11-1. Spedding made it a dozen when a good Douthwaite delivery was headed down by Broadbent into Spedding's path who sidefooted home to complete his hatrick and make it 12-1.

Rowe secured his double hatrick with 20 minutes remaining - chipping over the oncoming keeper when he was through on goal to make it 13-1. Boal then cruelly nicked a goal off the boot of Rowe, but sadly for Boal it was struck off for offside. Faber made it 14-1 on 74 minutes curling a beauty into the top corner from inside the area.

Boal then completed the rout slotting home from close range.
Final score 15-1.
In summary, Quilligans were just too strong for their opponents, and other than Barrow's goal they didn't really trouble Speight. Credit to them though - they kept going and didn't give up even at 15-1 down. Their keeper had a great game and if it wasn't for him there could have been many more goals.
