Tony Clowes The ever popular “ginger scarecrow” returned to us after a spell at Highbury. Tony has been one of the top keepers on the Fylde for ten years now, great talker and loves the game. Recently took up marathon running, anything to get as far as he can from Fleetwood. |
Kev Roskell Has been one of best keepers on the coast for many years now and has stepped in this season and been excellent for us, particularly in the Lancashire Cup semi final. Arguably the best ever “talker” and organises his defence throughout the whole game to great effect. |
Josh Woods Excellent young keeper whose displays for Wren Rovers have caught the eye this season as they top the West Lancs League. A major suprise when we was able to prise him from Poulton's grasp, but their loss is definitely our gain, and should be a top keeper for many years to come. |
Ben Simmonds Excellent young keeper who plays for Wren Rovers youth team and is a top prospect who has been recently scouted by a couple of League clubs. |
Robbie Boal Another player who is fast approaching Gledhill legendary status for appearances, having first played here as a 17 year old against us as we won the famous “grand slam” of all four trophies in 1993. The club skipper, he leads by example giving 100% every game and has been suspended more times than Houdini |
Stuart Bracewell Bracey is now fast approaching “Gaz Collings” status as having played in that many Gledhill Finals. Made his Quilligans debut as a 17 year old and has been here driving the Gaffer mad ever since! Loves to get forward, particularly if Quills are awarded a penalty. Luckily for us he was off by the time the penalty shoot out came at the last Gledhill Final. |
Dave Butler Dave has been on the beat in the Quilligans back four for a decade or so now and is always committed 100%. Leading the fight against crime with some gusto, Dave has perfected his long throw by throwing rowdy prisoners down flights of stairs. Came back from the Quilligans tour of Majorca with the title “Best dancer in the Balearics award”. See BCM nightclub for details. |
Steve Palmer Tough tackling midfielder who can score with either foot. Steve is established as the premier central midfielder on the coast. Led Squires Gate to the FA Vase quarter final, and has recently returned to School Road after a spell at Kirkham Town. |
Lee Broadbent “Broady” is well known around the town with his designer clothes and cars, but on the pitch for Quills he always gives 100%. Big aggressive centre forward with great feet and good combinations when needed too. |
Steve McAllister One of the oldest players in the BFSFA Premier League and still turning out for Poulton FC in the West Lancashire League. Can be relied upon to do a job anywhere on the park. |
Scott Sugden “Suggy” is renowned as the most skilful striker in the league and would be a regular on Soccer AM’s “showboating” with his tricks. Leading scorer in 2006 and scored a memorable hat trick at Ingol Rangers in the Lancashire Cup quarter final. |
Danny Whittaker Nephew of the Gaffer and destined to be the top midfielder in the area in the next few years. Formerly a YTS player at Blackpool, he has a great engine which he uses to good effect to get forward and score plenty of goals from midfield. |
Anthony Pearson The teams “all rounder”, Anthony can player anywhere on the park including goalkeeper and is one of the fittest players in the squad. Tony is another of the “Parker Disciples” that have followed him to Mechs. |
Phil Ioannou Is the teams “social secretary” and has plenty of practice in that area and is leading the charge to Magaluf for the end of season bash as he did last year. Won the Premier leading scorer award last season by a big margin, impressive when you consider he did it from wing back. |
Phil Thompson "Tommo" is one of the best defenders ever to play in the Sunday Alliance, he played 55 times for Blackpool first team, including the 2001 play off win in Cardiff. One of the best defenders ever to have pulled on the Azzuri shirt, superb in the air and composed on the deck. |
Peter Taberner Another fine young talent, Tabs is an outstanding centre half and is another of Quills Squires Gate contingent. He has been successful in his application to play college football in the USA and leaves on a four year scholarship next August to Indiana, which will delight a lot of local forwards. |
Sean Lawler Shortly due to go to the USA to play college football, Sean joined earlier this season after the Gaffer spotted him at Kirkham. Equally comfortable in defence and in midfield Sean is a very useful utility player and a welcome addition to the squad. |
Sam Gorrie The apprentice of the team, Sam has been excellent this season and will develop in to a good centre half. Likes to get forward at set pieces and is probably the teams biggest aerial threat with his well timed runs. Will be forever in Quills folklore after his last gasp equaliser forced extra time and eventual victory in the 2007 Gledhill Final. |
Ben Perry-Acton Is a former Blackpool YTS player and Grandson of the famous Bill Perry, scorer of Blackpool's winning FA Cup final goal. He plays left back or left midfield and is in his first full season at the club. A big prospect for Quilligans. |
Paul Cook Skilful central midfielder signed from PPM. Cookie has established himself as one of the top midfielders around and attracted the attention of a lot of semi-pro clubs. Enjoys the social side of football and renowned for spending long sessions in the gym, mind you the sunbeds are good at his gym. |
Stephen "Docker" Brooks Signed from Highbury along with Clowsey. Docker has emerged as a major force at centre half locally. Loves the social side of football and says there’s no truth in the rumour that he signed for Quills because of the teams sponsorship by Club Sanuk. |
Anthony Swallow “Tosh” has been a long time target of the Gaffer, and has finally seen sense and joined the Azurri after many years at Layton. Tricky left sided player who can tackle, will definitely be in the running for the “biggest whinger” award, but I’m sure "Cats", "Bracey" and "Broady" will give him plenty of competition. |
Lee Catlow “Cats” returns to Quills after a successful period as a semi-pro player with Fleetwood Town FC. He was previously leading scorer for the team as a young 18 year old striker, and will certainly strike fear in to some of the Premier defenders who have to mark him this season. |
Adam West Young defender who Quills acquired in a pre- season swoop from Highfiled Social. Certain to challenge "Bracey" for the “best looking defender” award, and may also challenge for the “best wag” award. |
Danny Rowe Arguably the hottest young talent to emerge for some time, Danny was at Man.Utd and Blackpool as a junior. He is equally comfortable as a striker or attacking midfielder and has great strength, awareness and a explosive shot with either foot. Currently at Wren Rovers but has attracted the attention of one or two clubs higher up the pyramid. |
Jordan Spedding young striker and the Gaffer's youngest son. Has a great touch and awareness for a tall lad and always likely to do the unexpected in the danger area. Returned recently after spells at Poulton and Highfield because he missed the lads and also the full monty breakfasts at Quilligans. |
Dave Willoughby veteran striker who has signed for cover, Dave plays for Garstang on Saturdays and is a renowned goal poacher. |
Andy Nutall combatative central midfielder signed from Highfield Social, Nuts is a fitness fanatic who loves a tackle and grafts hard for the team, also likes the social side of football which is always a good thing. |
Geoff Wilson can play centre half or centre forward, loves the physical side of the game and is a great dressing room influence on his team mates. |
Carl Spedding chunky midfielder in the Steve Palmer mode. The Gaffer's middle son who has appeared for Poulton FC against Quilligans in two finals, with Quilligans proving too strong in both. Carl has great power and likes to surge forward from midfield. |
Gareth Moore 17 year old prodigy who is a product of Myerscough Football Academy where he is a striker, big strong lad who possesses plenty of pace. |
Jordan Douthwaite excitiing young left wing prospect from the YMCA under 17 team. Jordan has been following Quilligans for a long time, and his displays for them propelled him in to the first team squad. His pace and exquisite crossing ability means a good future is assured. |
Chris Coreless another fine talent out of the Wren Rovers youth academy. Chris goes past players like they are not there and supplies pinpoint crosses for his forwards. |
